Breast Reduction …The Road to Recovery
Knowing what to expect from yourself in the days following cosmetic surgery can be crucial to having a healthy and happy recovery. Use the following information to help you plan ahead for your recovery after Breast Reduction Surgery.
How will I feel?
- serious pain typically does not last more than a couple of days, and discomfort typically fades almost completely within a week. Swelling should mostly dissipate in the first two weeks. That being said, you should fully expect swelling and discomfort to return during your next period.
- The nipple area and lower portion of the breast may not feel normal after surgery, but generally this issue will resolve itself in about 60 days. However, a total loss of sensation in the nipple or lower breast is likely the result of serious nerve damage, and is likely permanent
- Drainage, minor bleeding, crusting, crystallizing and scabbing are all normal, but severe bleeding is not.
- Fatigue for at least the first week is totally normal
